We are currently seeking a Cathode Engineer in Watsonville, CA

Position Summary and Special Duties:

As a (an) Cathode Engineer your day to day duties will consist of and may not be limited to:

We are currently hiring for a cathode engineer.  The ideal candidate will have an educational background in materials or mechanical engineering or physics, with experience in vacuum electron device (VED) manufacturing. 

  • Technical leadership in the domain of emitter products
  • Designing and guiding the production staff on new assemblies
  • Understanding and augmenting production processes on dispenser cathodes
  • Ability to discuss customer requirements and translate to design and production.
  • Ensure quality of product meets demanding customers.
  • Identification of new products
  • Act as a technical resource within the company.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for operations
  • Suggest new methods where appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate review and analysis of capital
  • Provide customer and sales support. Assist in identifying new customers; work with sales to review and provide analysis of pricing
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Education:

MS in engineering, materials science, physics or other similar discipline. 

(Minimum Bachelor of Science in appropriate discipline.)

 

Experience:

  • MS-Office suite experience. 
  • CAD experience required.
  • CAM and machining experience preferred but not necessary
  • Must be able to convey complex technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
  • Broad knowledge of materials, physics and chemistry of dispenser cathodes and / or mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Working knowledge of ERP system, preferably Visual Manufacturing
  • Cathode design and manufacture
  • Vacuum tube design and manufacture
  • High temperature brazing
  • Thermionic emitters
  • Machining
  • FEA (thermal systems)
  • Statistical review of products and manufacturing processes
  • RF devices
  • Use of  Autodesk’s Inventor
  • Communicating with customers, handling the company / customer interface

 

 Travel:

 Travel up to 20% travel each year might be required; typical <10%.

 

Location:

Location: Position is in Watsonville, CA,

Along the Pacific coast south of San Francisco.
