We are currently seeking a Machine Shop Lead in Thomaston, CT. As a Machine Shop Lead, your day-to-day duties will consist of and may not be limited to:

  • This position acts as an assistant to the Machining Supervisor for the Machine Shop operations. Assists the Machining Supervisor with work scheduling, training, problem solving, discipline and other issues as necessary. Interfaces with representatives from other departments, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and others. Promotes Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Day-to-Day Operation of the Machine Shop
  • First priority is being a Machining Technician - Level 1 performing production duties. Assists the other Technicians with work schedule problems. Has a working familiarity with all of the machines in the Machine Shop. These include but are not limited to: manual and CNC lathes and horizontal turret lathes. Manual and CNC vertical machining centers, surface grinders. Understands the capabilities of, but may not operate, each machine on a regular basis. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Blueprints & Traveler - Can not only correctly interpret the blueprints but assists other Technicians and alerts Engineering to drawings that require correction. Can interpret all operations listed on Traveler documents that move with each job.


  • Requirements for this position are to also be engaged in: 5S, Continuous Improvement, On-Time Delivery, Routine Total Preventative Maintenance, and the submission of Improvement Ideas.
  • High school graduate preferred - will consider commensurate experience. Has passed Certification Test established by the Company for each machine that is used on an unsupervised basis.
  • United States U.S. Citizenship is required for this role. the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
