The Database & Systems Administrator has direct responsibility to install, configure, tune, maintain, and support the organization's databases. Primary responsibility for ensuring that the Oracle/JDEdwards Enterprise One Software is globally available and operating effectively. Responsible for Oracle Database administration. Further responsibilities to include maintenance and coordination of technical activities related to Enterprise Applications required to support business needs. This role also has secondary responsibility for internet, extranet and intranet web server administration, including Enterprise One web layer, BSD, and Enterprise applications.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Perform CNC functions for EnterpriseOne including software updates, package builds, ESU deployments and system maintenance. Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues Assist in management and administration of web applications and systems. • Monitor database system details within database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements. Ensure stability and reliability of data access and data quality across organization via ongoing database support and maintenance including recommendations for physical data storage of enterprise systems. • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets. • Develop long-term goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers. Develop and administer strategies for the control and sharing of company database resources and services. Perform database transaction and security audits. Provide support to IS staff for testing software changes and developing test data. • Develop and deploy end-user practices and tools for data extraction, queries, and data manipulation in accordance with business processes. • Create and document models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones through data flowcharting. • Work with applications staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures. Assist with the installation and configuration of relevant network components to ensure database access, consistency, and integrity. • Establish and implement 'best practices' and policies for enterprise systems. • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases. • Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. • Implement sound backup and recovery procedures for critical data and develop a disaster recovery testing policy for the organization.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • On call availability as needed to support network operations. • Ability to lift computer hardware and supplies up to 40 lbs. • Extended and overnight travel required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: • Oracle 10g or higher certification. • 3 years experience configuring, supporting and maintaining Oracle databases. Experience working with Oracle 11g or later. • 3 years exposure to JD Edwards Enterprise One software as CNC administrator. • Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience. • Knowledge of network and PC operating systems to include Windows, Unix, and Linux. High level of knowledge working with clustering technology. • Knowledge of Web Sphere, Web-logic, Apache, BSD, Eprise and other web utilities. •
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations. Ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating needs assessments. • Highly self-motivated and directed. • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. • Strong ability to work with multiple vendors for support incidents
