Hardware Test Engineer

Direct Hire

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

·  FDA verification/validation testing

·  HALT protocols development and execution

·  Write tests based on project and engineering requirements and specifications

·  Examine, integrate, verify, and maintain digital hardware and circuit card assemblies

·  Analysis of digital platforms and wireless devices utilizing wireless chipsets, RFICs and power management ASICs

·  Drive planning and execution of design verification test, factory test planning, and transition to production

·  Assimilate and refine existing product designs, apply integration and problem solving skills in the lab, read and write specifications and requirements, and actively contribute toward the evolution of the hardware platforms

·  Work with internal and external development partners to ensure that best design practices are followed and that products perform to expectations

·  Test of instrumentation

·  Test complex user interfaces

·  Provide detailed substantiation of all test results

·  Suggest additional testing to be performed

·  Debug Problems

·  Work individually and as part of team of engineers

·  Keep knowledge of all company products up-to-date

·  Train company employees, Customers, and Distributors on how to use Company Products

·  Update procedures per release

·  Required to wear dosimeter when in direct contact with radiation emitting devices

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline preferred
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and work effectively in a demanding, fast paced environment
  • Must be able to assemble facts from various areas, analyze data, and provide informed recommendations to management
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and take charge of projects
  • Ability to quickly research and become expert in other medical device electrical standards
  • Provide leadership to junior level software quality assurance engineers

Computer & Analytic Skills

  • Strong familiarity with the engineering lifecycle and QA methodology
  • Experience in embedded software/firmware is a plus
  • Experience in the following areas preferred:
    • Medical device verification/validation testing
    • Hardware electrical test and verification
    • RF, Digital, Analog, Power
    • Testing of control software for complex electrical and mechanical equipment
    • Testing complex user interfaces
    • Computer interface and hands-on x-ray device system testing
    • Testing to ensure regulatory compliance
    • Working with all groups and departments within the organization
    • Bug tracking tools and report generating
  • Knowledge of transmission lines, cross talk, decoupling, low-power supply design and layout of high performance PWBs; Familiarity with modems, DSPs, microprocessors, memories, LCDs, camera sensors, batteries and other consumer electronics hardware is desired, as is tool experience performing schematic capture, signal integrity and programmable logic simulations, and place & route
  • You must be excellent with technology, be able to present using a laptop computer and be able demonstrate proficiency with MS Office package, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; as well as Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds
  • Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands; and talk or hear
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus
  • Interaction with x-ray devices; for this reason strict safety and tracking programs are in place, requiring the utilization of dose monitoring equipment either full time or as necessitated by situation
