Quality Control Inspector - Direct hire near Glastonbury, CT

Position Summary

In addition to its extremely fast-paced environment, Company is a high mix / low volume manufacturer with 3,000 – 5,000 items shipping annually across multiple value streams.

QC Inspector to perform 1st piece and final inspection on aerospace components for compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements and company specifications before or after manufacturing processes.

Primary Expectations / Responsibilities

Conduct origination inspection of incoming parts, both purchased and fabricated, as well as supplies used for the manufacture of products.

Perform inspection procedures to include checking dimensions of related surfaces, as well as assessment of finished goods and detection of nonconformance's.

Approve items within specifications and recommend disposition of items not meeting standards.

Maintain quality system documents for inspection tools and quality metrics.  

Responsible for verification of sign-offs in all production departments and will also be closing jobs and performing computer entry tracking.  

Use electrical and mechanical standard measuring equipment and measuring devices; height gauge, gauge blocks, gauge pins, shadow graphs, OD & ID micrometers, calipers, depth micrometer, profilometer, radius gauge.

Responsible for data entry of required information into the ERP system and other related databases.

Other duties as may be assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications: (ALL ARE REQUIRED)

3 years recent inspection experience including standard inspection and data forms

1 year background in an Aerospace environment

Experience reading /understanding mechanical and electrical drawings, including BOMs and wiring lists

Experience with standard electrical and mechanical measuring equipment

Ability to visually and dimensionally conduct final inspections on a wide range of component parts and finished goods. 

Ability to work with shop personnel to assist operators in setting up gages, and performing in-process inspections as needed

Demonstrated document and procedure writing skills

Strong computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

High School Diploma or GED

 

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of recent inspection experience with at least 3 in an Aerospace environment

Experience in a high mix environment highly preferred

Knowledge of IPC -610 and or J-STD-001

Knowledge of IPC- 620

Knowledge of American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6

Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS 9100

Knowledge of Supply Chain Management

Certifications:  J-STD  IPC

Designated Supplier Customer Representative - DSQR experience

Internal auditing experience

Associates / Bachelor’s Degree
