We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Manager in Holyoke, MA.

 

Position Summary and Special Duties:

As a (an) Manufacturing Manager your day to day duties will consist of and may not be limited to:

The duties of this position include a wide variety of responsibilities and authorities in the area of Material Control and Production.  It focuses on the economic value of the quantity, time and location of goods and services, and the resources that provide them.  This job provides the planning for material acquisition, storage, and flow through the production process.  It develops manufacturing plans and flow of materials that will conform to company policies, using inventories properly to minimize operating cost. The incumbent must have a good knowledge of material control and manufacturing systems such as Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Synchronized Manufacturing.  Reliance on computerized systems is a necessary. This job covers specifically the following five major areas:

 

I. Production

 

  • Provides supervision and leadership to the Group Leaders in each of the production departments.

      Production planning to maximize machines running times and reduces set-up time.   Work to delivery schedules for complete customer satisfaction.

  • Complying with company quality requirements, policies, and procedures as well as customer and government specifications and regulations.

      Assist the Engineering Department in creating Operation Sheets, Process Control Record Sheets (PCRs), and Routing for machining operations.

      Research deviations from planned process (trouble shooting) and recommend corrective actions.

      Advise in the evaluation, maintenance, and selection, and purchasing of machinery and equipment.

 

II. Purchasing

 

  • Acquisition of all goods and services required by the company.
  • Obtaining and evaluating quotations, order placing, expediting of purchase orders, and assuring that quality products and services will be delivered on time from competent suppliers.

      Constant market research must provide the company with information regarding availability of new products and services. 

      Negotiations with suppliers are aimed to purchase their products at the most favorable prices to our company.   

      Establishing a supplier history file for quality, price, and delivery performance for each part and service. 

      A list of qualified and approved suppliers is to be maintained.

    This job establishes a requisition procedure and assures adherence to it.

III. Production Control

 

      Establishing Production Schedules based on available capacity.

      Releasing production orders with proper documentation.

      With Dispatching and expediting, put schedules into effect that takes corrective action where shortages develop.

      Analyzing failures of meeting the schedule and planning for additional capacity and elimination of bottlenecks. This includes establishing requests for working overtime in departments were regular work hours can not provide enough capacity to meet customer requirements.

      Controlling production orders and assigning accountability from start to finish including shipping.

 

IV. Inventory Control

 

This job controls the theoretical inventory (book inventory) and the

physical inventory (Warehouse, Receiving, Shipping, and Work-in-Process).

 

      Inventories are planned based on customer order requirements and certain strategic decisions to order beyond booked orders (ACPs, Forward Assist Assembly, Trigger Guard, and others).

    Maintaining the physical inventory and order balances.  It is a goal of this job to have the physical inventory consistently match the theoretical inventory.  Until a degree of confidence is reached that we have achieved this goal, a physical inventory is to be taken at the end of each quarter.

      This job does cycle counting and fine tune all established procedures and work instructions effecting inventories.

      This job keeps inventories low.   We except that Work-in-Process (WIP) inventory does not exceed four weeks. Raw Material inventory must take into consideration purchase and production lot sizes, customer long-term order status, risk of obsolescence, and availability of cash.

 

V. Shipping, Receiving, and Warehousing

 

  • In a "hands-on" manner, this position supervises the receiving of material and other goods from suppliers.  In an expeditious way such receiving are recorded in the company's computerized receiving system and moved quickly to inspection for prompt use in manufacturing or for storage in the warehouse. 
  • The supervision of the shipping function includes selecting transportation means shipping products to customers and sub-contractors.

 

This job performs certain other related work based on requests from the immediate supervisor and actively participates in the certification and audit process of ISO 13485.
