Payroll Specialist

We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist for a client in Brewster, NY.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner while consistently maintaining confidentiality.

Essential Functions:

• Process weekly multi state payrolls in an accurate and timely manner
• Roll-up of payroll data from multiple satellite locations using multiple payroll platforms, balancing, processing adjustments
• Respond to and resolve payroll questions and discrepancies in a professional manner
• Perform State and Federal Tax reporting, audit and reconcile payroll data, analysis of payroll data and periodic and ad hoc reporting, as necessary
• Ensure payroll compliance
• Process and maintain data management across multiple states
• Collaborate with Plant staff at various locations to address local payroll-related issues

Requirements, Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
• Knowledge of Payroll best practices, applicable Federal and State wage, hour, and tax laws
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in multi-state and unionized Payroll environments
• Experience with 401K, garnishments, health care deductions, and PTO accruals
• Sharp analytical skills with the ability to identify “why”
• Prevailing Wage experience, desirable
• Proficient written and verbal English communication skills
• Excellent customer relation skills
• Advanced spreadsheet analytical / processing skills
• Adherence to internal controls and maintenance of confidentiality
