Functions 

  • Gathering and analyzing data, identify suppliers, and stay on top of factors affecting supply and demand to forecast costs of needed products and materials.  

  • Identifying potential suppliers, evaluating and interviewing them to determine quality, price, reliability, and delivery terms, and make decisions to ensure that needed supplies arrive in time and at a price that supports the organization’s objectives. 

  • Determining critical vendors list and the process for replacing “failed vendors”  

  • Contract negotiations, formulating policies related to the purchase of goods and services.  

  • Preparing and processing purchase orders and requisition forms. 

  • Developing procedures regarding contract management. 

  • Maintaining records of goods and services ordered and received. 

  • Gathering specifications for equipment, product and materials needs.

  • Taking steps to ensure a supply of inventory items needed to support production. 

  • Ensuring inventory control by replenishment; perform cycle counts and discrepancy reconciliation 

  • Processing customer orders for replacement and/or spare parts 

  • Supervising orders and arrange stocking of raw materials and equipment to ensure they meet needs 

  • Keeping logs and records of warehouse stock, executed orders, etc. 

  • Preparing accurate reports for upper management 

 

?Education and Experience  

  • High school diploma required

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a business setting required, manufacturing setting is a plus
