We are seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to work a hybrid schedule in Albany, NY. Project Overview:This role will support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) shared services and provide consistent and thorough support for Canal Construction as well as Canal Design, Support Canal Floating Plant, and overall function of the shared services EHS. Job Functions & Responsibilities:Review and comment on all design documents/submittals. Review and comment on all submitted health and safety plans. Develop templates and guidance for future submittals based on those reviews and internal guidance Attending all construction progress meetings. Perform scheduled site visits to active construction projects. Follow up on noted deficiencies with Construction Managers. Schedule meetings with Transportation Maintenance Engineers, Floating Plant Supervisors and Director of Marine Infrastructure. React to meetings with work plan to include Review of proposed new equipment Developing health and safety plans for Canal Floating Plant Tasks Performing site visits to Floating Plant job sites Working with Plant Managers/Supervisors to address action items. Working with Plant Managers/Supervisors to develop standards Work with company EHS reps to become familiar with their areas and assist as needed to cover emergent work and any extended leaves for EHS reps. Above will require some regional to state travel and some overtime. ***This is NOT an Environmental, Health & Safety role- just Health & Safety*** Skills:Strong computer skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) Excellent communication skills Education & Certifications:Associate’s Degree in a science field preferred. Overview:This role is responsible for coordinating the department of Environmental Justice’s (EJ) program activities and will be part of an existing team of EJ coordinators who are responsible for raising awareness of the company’s programs and initiatives. Candidate must be willing to travel throughout NY State and work outside normal business hours for events. Responsibilities:Develop and implement energy efficiency and educational programs within Environmental Justice communities, schools, state and city organizations consistent with the company’s mission, and goals.
