We are currently seeking a Payroll Tax Manager for a client in New Haven, CT Hybrid OverviewThe Payroll Tax Manager will oversee all facets of a multi-jurisdictional, payroll tax process. The manager will ensure that work locations are researched and set up in systems, as required, and all associates hired or rehired are coded accurately for federal, state, and local jurisdictional withholdings (in compliance with governmental regulations). As a (an) Winder your day-to-day duties will consist of and may not be limited to: PurposeThis position involves inserting coil windings into stators, rotors, and armatures. Input MaterialEmpty stator cores and rotors, some of which are purchased, and armatures that are built in-house plus insulation, phase paper and other materials, and pre-wound coils. Essential FunctionsChecks the stator, rotor or armature for bent laminations, burrs, or slots that are not clear. Review traveler for connection diagram, type of winding, span, inserts and coil grouping. For varnish job, install slot liners and begin inserting bottom of first coil in slot and top into proper slot based on span and continue coil insertion for whole group.Continue with following groups, inserting phase papers between groups. Shape coils with forming fixture using press or mallet and check with template. Tie both ends and attach leads by soldering with solder pot and ladles, hand soldering iron, or, for smaller gauge wires, brazing. Input wires are then labeled, and the stationer is sent to test. For VPI job (sealed insulation), each coil is taped with non-adhesive insulation and additional sleeves, silicone and moisture blockers are installed. Rotors and armatures follow similar procedures, but slots are on the outside. Coil wires on armatures must go to the commutator in proper sequence. On heavy duty motors, these wires are welded to the commutator using TIG. On large wound rotors, support rings attached to core support ends of coils.On very large stator/frame assemblies, large rings are temporarily installed and rest in a roller assembly which allows the unit to be rotated for coil insertion. For very large rotors, a temporary arbor is supported on each end and that allows the unit to be rotated for coil insertion. Proficiency LevelsLevel I: Setup - Operation - Maintenance - Has attained a very high level of proficiency and requires very limited supervision. Has a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Can perform any operation that the job requires. Is extremely proficient at math required by job - is expert at using measuring instruments, gauges, and templates. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of machines. Quality/Continuous Improvement/Productivity - Inspects own work - has very low rejection rate. Uses experience and proven techniques to pass job on to next work station in optimum time to maintain required quality and minimize rework. Represents Winding Shop on Continuous Improvement Task Teams. Assists Winding Team Leader to establish Certification Test for each machine/procedure. Assists new employees and other Winders with learning the skills necessary to obtain Certification. Works closely with Engineering on prototype work and makes meaningful suggestions for product improvement. Problem Solving - Can work out virtually any problem that arises concerning work being performed - has usually seen some form of the problem before. Blueprints & Traveler - Can not only correctly interpret the drawings and Traveler documents but can assist other Winders. Level II: Setup - Operation - Maintenance - Has attained a moderate level of proficiency and requires occasional supervision. Generally, has a minimum of 2 years’ experience. Can perform most operations that the job requires. Can do routine math required by job - is able to use most measuring instruments, gauges, and templates. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of machines. Quality/Continuous Improvement/Productivity - Inspects own work - has moderate rejection rate. Uses proven techniques to pass job on to next workstation, but in some instances must sacrifice time to maintain required quality and minimize rework. Participates on Continuous Improvement Task Teams. Problem Solving - Can work out most of the problems that arises concerning work being performed - Utilizes the experience of the Level 1 Coil Inserter and the Winding Team Leader. Blueprints & Traveler - Can correctly interpret the drawings and Traveler documents, but sometimes needs assistance when working on new, or very complex, jobsLevel III: Setup - Operation - Maintenance - Works at an acceptable level of proficiency and requires general supervision. Generally, has less than 2 years’ experience. Can perform some of the operations that the job requires and is learning the more complex operations. Can do routine math required by job - is learning to use measuring instruments, gauges and templates. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of machines. Quality/Continuous Improvement/Productivity - Inspects own work - has acceptable rejection rate. As a (an) Controller Assembler your day-to-day duties will consist of and may not be limited to: Purpose This position involves the Assembly of various Controls and Components. Input MaterialDepending on what is being assembled, some input material is supplied as basic material on which further manufacturing processes are performed (such as wire that is wound into heater coils and annealed). Other input material consists of components that are purchased, or come from another Manufacturing group, and are assembled into larger components and/or finished products (such as contactors, indicator lights and other components that are assembled into an Automatic Bus Transfer (ABT) switch). Essential FunctionsWide varieties of functions are performed by the Assemblers and are broken down by Proficiency Levels: Assembles complex Controls and Control Cabinets as well as assembly on various product lines and other equipment; On Control Cabinets, after layout is determined, panels are stenciled to show the location of subassemblies. Major components are mounted, and wiring is routed. Interconnecting wires are attached to the panels. Shrink-fit labels, cable clamps and tie-downs are installed; wires also may be connected to terminals by mechanical fastening or by soldering connections. Checks are made to ensure that all mechanical functions work and that there is room for replacing parts, electrically wire runs may be checked by use of multi-meter or other device. Doors, external labels, engraved identification plates, and viynlites are installed to complete the project, and then the completed unit is submitted to Test and Q.A. Similar procedures are used on various product lines and may require additional specific operations, such as (but not limited to), contact pressure setting to tolerance, drilling and pinning, limit switch functionality checks, or the functionality of any other moving parts and motors are checked for proper rotation direction. Proficiency LevelsLevel 1: Setup - Operation - Maintenance - Has attained very high level of proficiency and requires very limited supervision. Generally has a minimum of 2 years of experience. Can perform the assembly of the complex equipment on larger controllers - on new products, spends time planning the order of component assembly and method of wire routing. On existing products, follows written documentation and is familiar with all of the specialized equipment used during assembly. Provides Engineering staff with feedback on new designs and “legacy” product issues as well as maintains good Customer Relations when customer/government reps are present to witness tests. Quality/Continuous Improvement/Productivity - Inspects own work – uses procedures where applicable, experience and proven techniques to develop assembly methods that are faster while maintaining necessary Quality. Continually works toward simplifying wire routing and component assembly with a goal of improving production efficiency. Can perform the assembly of moderately complex equipment - on new products, learns the assembly procedures from drawings as well as assistance from other Assemblers and Supervision. On existing products, follows written documentation. Is familiar with the specialized equipment used to assemble components that the Assembler has been trained to assemble. Maintains good Customer Relations when customer/government reps are present to witness tests. Quality/Continuous Improvement/Productivity - Inspects own work.
