Position Summary and Special Duties: As a CNC/CAM Programmer your day to day duties will consist of and may not be limited to:Job Summary:The CNC/CAM Programmer role is an important member of our programming and engineering team supporting production of precision aerospace components. This role acts as s the liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing (Operations) teams. You will focus on the process development and programming of CNC equipment including multi-axis lathes, Swiss screw machines, vertical machining centers, and grinders. You will split time between programming in a CAM (Computer Aid Manufacturing) environment and performing hands-on set-up on the production floor.Major Areas of Responsibility:Utilizing ESPIRT CAM software, develop CNC programs (g-code) that optimize the best manufacturing methods to produces precision and ultra-precision components. Work within the Engineering & Manufacturing teams to develop manufacturing processes, preferred tooling & work-holding, in-process deburring and metrology that will become the approved work instructions to Production team. Document all selections in ESPIRT tooling and datasheet libraries.Leverage parametric programming, macros, and CAM software to optimize programs across a family of parts.Set-up and operate production equipment during the initial process development of new parts. Determine ideal set-up, tool paths, material removal rates, finish, and yield. Train production personnel for smooth transition to ensure reproducibility in mass production. Manage programs and machine & tool set-up data within the company’s product data management (PDM) and Distributed Numerical Control DNC systems.Serve as in-house subject matter expert, participating in lean events to optimize existing released products that can reduce set-up, reduce machine time, or otherwise improve productivity and quality.Stay in touch with the latest manufacturing technology through the research of equipment, software, tooling, and gaging systems. Make recommendations on productivity improvements related to technology investments. Miscellaneous duties as assigned.Requirements:Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering preferred and/or progressive on the job experience commensurate without a degree.Five or more years of advanced manufacturing experience, preferably in a precision or ultra-precision machining centers.Expert knowledge of CNC programming such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Okuma controls, using advanced programming techniques.Frequent user of CAM software programs. ESPIRT is preferred.
