We are currently seeking an Inventory Control Accountant for a client in Bridgeport, CT.

Summary:  The Inventory Control Accountant is responsible for the accurate recording of all inventory transactions according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company procedures. Under general supervision from the Inventory Control Supervisor performs a variety of duties in receiving, reconciling, handling, and accounting for inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Inventory Control related duties specifically include:
    • Process containers receiving and calculate landed cost
    • Master Item File maintenance, including creating item codes, price updates, cost updates, status changes, weight, case pack and sheet size updates
    • Bin Maintenance, including Bin Reporting, Coordinating Stock Movement, Product Consolidations by item and lot
    • Coordinate and process movement of weekly Transfer Truck inventory as well as allocate sales orders
    • Receive and invoice airfreight and dropship
    • Assist in cycle counting and physical inventory preparation
    • Assist and record monthly write offs
    • Work with Procurement regarding product quality issues
    • Assist in researching shipment errors
    • Record Marketing Tools Room (MTR) builds inventory
    • Inventory adjustments
    • Variance analysis between Warehouse Management System and Sage 100 software
  • Assist WMS coordinator with any allocations and held short and replenishment issues
  • Develop necessary reports and take corrective action for continuous improvement.
  • Working closely and collaboratively with the procurement team to resolve issues and discrepancies relating to purchase orders, receipts, invoices, landed costs, adjustments, etc.
  • Lead and take charge of the printing process.


  • Bachelors in related discipline, preferred, but not required
  • 1-2 years of experience in Inventory Control or related capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting
  • Expert in Microsoft Databased and Excel (Pivot tables, v-lookups etc.)
  • ERP and WMS experience required; Sage ERP preferred
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills

Duration: Contract to Hire (6 months)
