The Infrastructure Delivery Senior Solutions Architect is responsible for designing enterprise infrastructure solutions and capabilities in alignment with the enterprise architecture developed by the Chief Architect for the Corporate segment of the business, including exploration of new technologies, improving the current IT infrastructure, and integration of new solutions into existing systems. 


The Solution Architect will be responsible for leading the solution design and implementation for complex systems, platforms and will interact with key business stakeholders, design teams, development and QA teams on a variety of projects in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong business & technology acumen and can translate business vision and strategy into effective technology change by creating, communicating and improving the key requirements, principles and models that describe the enterprises future state and enable its evolution.


This role primarily collaborates with cross functional teams within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services department, ensuring that outcomes comply with the Enterprise Architectural vision, quality, and security standards. The Solutions Architect is a member of a cross functional team that collaborates with business and information technology customers to define the capabilities and solutions. 


The Solutions Architect will define how those capabilities will be built and will support timely delivery of those capabilities and solutions including participating in planning and requirements definition in collaboration with business owners and product managers to ensure that the time and effort of the Enterprise Infrastructure Services team is producing the greatest value and is in alignment with the overall strategy.




Job Responsibilities

     The following duties reflect the primary responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Incumbent(s) may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties as assigned.



Technical Solution Design

  1. Designs enterprise solutions and capabilities that are scalable, adaptable, highly available, and in alignment with the architecture strategy, policies, standards and procedures set by the Strategy, Architecture, and Innovation Group “SAI”, and Reference Architecture.
  2. Promotes shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flow. Contributes to a reduction in IT complexity, enforcement of discipline and standardization of IT planning activities, consolidation of infrastructure, data and applications, and better interoperability of the systems.  Facilitates the reuse of ideas, components, services, and proven patterns across various solutions.
  3. Perform Infrastructure software and hardware evaluations and selections according to the defined technical review process. Initiate feasibility studies and analysis in terms of MVP or POC to evaluate effectiveness as well as compatibility of the available infrastructure options.
  4. Ensures existing and new infrastructure meets security and infrastructure standards. 
  5. Documents and communicates architectural requirements for solutions and capabilities.
  6. Maintains architectural documentation of solutions built and supported by the cross functional Solutions Delivery teams.
  7. Collaborates closely with business customers, product management personnel, and development team members to design and deliver business solutions.
  8. Supports the articulation and communication of the IT Strategy to Constituents.
  9. Collaborates with the Chief Architect and Enterprise to assess technology lifecycles and determines how individual technologies or standards will change, be versioned or transitioned out
  10. Collaborates with other architects at (Data, Digital Customer Delivery etc.) to ensure integrity of assigned domain
  11. Practices risk management, engages key risk stakeholders, and effectively escalates issues that create business, technical, operational, and project risk
  12. Provides metrics for key performance indicator measurement in support the planning process, organizational objectives, and the strategic vision.
  13. Identify and evolve non-functional requirements of infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting, security, and other impact areas of infrastructure.
  14. Recognize compliance and regulatory specific requirements, disaster recovery plan, backups, and archival.
  15. Proven capabilities to identify, investigate and resolve variety of architecture issues including scalability, integration, extendibility, and performance. Ability to drive and lead solution development from conception through deployment.




Collaborative Team Environment Participation

  1. Provides deep, subject matter expert knowledge for domain technologies.
  2. Collaborates with other Chief Architect and other Senior Solutions Architects to ensure integrity of infrastructure, availability, and approach to change, version, and transition of infrastructure components.
  3. Collaborates with managers and leads to define and drive infrastructure roadmap, upgrades, transformation, and migration.
  4. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure that the infrastructure is in alignment with the needs of applications, products, tools, solutions, and services.
  5. Maintain relationship with key vendors and suppliers. Participate in negotiation with Cloud providers as subject matter expert.
  6. Takes responsibility for delivering on commitments to teams: their own team and those with whom they collaborate.
  7. Plans directly with business customers ensuring that the solution needed is the solution that is delivered.
  8. Participates in continuous improvement activities with their own team as well as the teams whom which they collaborate.
  9. Ability to articulate and collaborate solution requirements using interviews, document analysis, stakeholder surveys, business cases, use cases, user stories, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis.

  5. Conduct research into current and emerging infrastructure technologies and issues in support of infrastructure enhancement and modernization efforts.
  6. Develop project deliverables, proof-of-concepts, and pilot new technologies.
  7. Track and evaluate new standards, technologies and trends in Infrastructure architecture, design, and delivery.



Architecture Process & Governance

  1. Adhere to the architectural governance process.
  2. Adhere to Enterprise technology standards and policies in solution designs and recommendations.
  3. Execute the Enterprise Architecture Governance processes.
  4. Executes the IT strategy as defined by the IT Leadership and Enterprise Architecture Team.
  5. Actively participate in architecture review sessions with the Enterprise Architecture Team.
  6. Enforce and adhere IT standards, policies and Enterprise architectural plans
  7. Ensure that project documentation captures significant architectural decisions.
  8. Expertise with all facet of the solution architecture including Web Infrastructure, Virtualization technologies, Networking & Telecommunication, Open Systems, Databases & Storage, Security, and Cloud & Infrastructure Components (SaaS, IaaS, UCaaS, and CCaaS). Any vendor specific Cloud certification is a plus.
  9. Ability to articulate and collaborate solution requirements using interviews, document analysis, stakeholder surveys, business cases, use cases, user stories, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis.
  10. Participates in defining and measuring SLAs and recommends improvement opportunities or provides alternate solutions or approaches.
  11. On-call and/or after-hours work required





Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Systems/Technical Knowledge:  

  • Knowledge and understanding of virtualization platforms and hybrid cloud environments, network design and protocols, databases and storage, backup and archive, disaster recovery, and infrastructure monitoring.  
  • Expertise with a broad base of digital web technologies, platforms, patterns, frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Experience with single sign-on systems, identity access management systems, and PII data security best practices.
  • Expertise with typical multi-tier architectures: web servers, caching, application servers, load balancers, and storage.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based computing architectures. Experience within SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, UCaaS, CCaaS and other cloud environments.
  • Experience with general security technologies, processes, and concepts.
  • Experience with environments containing multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
  • In-depth experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex infrastructure solutions, DevOps, and Clustering.
  • Proven track record of establishing Infrastructure strategy, roadmap, and enterprise-wide capacity planning & containerization (familiarity with Dockers and Kubernetes).
  • Successfully performed Cloud enablement, infrastructure cost-benefit analysis, and migration under either AWS, Azure, GCP, or any other Cloud providers.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.


Experience: 10 or more years of IT and business/industry work experience.  5 or more years architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management, and infrastructure planning and operations.


Licensing/Certification: Certification in any one of the EA frameworks is a plus.
